I'm trying to help a neighbor's kid by ordering four spark plugs for his
2004 Mitsubishi Lancer ES 2.0L, and I see *lots* of spark plugs that fit.

But where can I get a lookup table that lists all (or most) so that we can
then go on Amazon to find the lowest price plug that simply fits the car?

Take a look at RockAuto at
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/mitsubishi,2004,lancer

They show about 30 choices depending on driving style and OEM, about 8
different mfr's, prices ranging from $1.60 to over $8

Rock Auto is very reputable, etc

Almost any 5/8" spark plug will fit. Doesn't mean it's the right spark
plug for your car in your environment.

Every size of spark plugs comes in a multiplicity of heat ranges.
Plugs too cold ---> fouled cruddy plugs, incomplete combustion.
Plugs too hot ---> burned electrodes, burned valves, piston damage.

The first thing you should have done was read your owner's manual and
see what the mfr recommends for your climate. Manuals are available
online.

RTFM before asking the ignoratti. I can't believe no one gave you a
sensible answer.

It's not "my" vehicle but I found out what's in the owners manual which
says only these will work NGK BKR5E-11, Denso K16PR-U11, Champion RC10YC4.

But the kid asked me if any others will work & that's why I asked here to
find a cross reference table that will tell me if these will work also.

Point taken. Please forgive me for being harsh with you.

total unknown quality / manufacturer. Your old ones may well be
better - - - -
If iridium is good, double iridium must be twice as good, right?

As for the x-ref, I don't think they exist.

What you find is Champion will have their own x-ref to their plugs.
Then Bosch will have their own proprietary x-ref to their plugs.
NGK will have their own proprietary x-ref to their plugs too.

But there is no master cross reference out there.
That would be exactly what everyone would want. So it doesn't exist.

NGK or Champion or
Bosch or Delco or whoever have pretty good crossreferences from THEIR
product to pretty much all the "big brands" and if you know how touse
them they tell you pretty much all you need.
That was what my observation is, which is that Brand X will have a cross
reference specific only for Brand X spark plugs.

That is, there is no "real" cross reference that I know of for spark plugs.

What I find strange is that this one thing everyone wants, doesn't exist.

All I can find are companies claiming that a given list of other spark plug
model numbers fits their particular spark plug brand and model number.

http://www.kakapart.com/oem/partscrossinterchange/ngk-bkr5e11.html

It lists the three models from the manual and a whole heap more.

I use that site for all sorts of car parts. I check at
manufacturer/distributor websites to confirm a part is a real
match before buying though.
